Safe Place Nigeria.

24/7 Toll-free Helpline.

To ensure that we reach the furthest behind first and leave no one behind, we offer a 24/7 helpline that requires no call credit to make calls. Anyone anywhere in Nigeria can in fact call our helpline at any time, as many times as possible and for as long as possible. Trained counsellors are on the other end of the line always.

Teletherapy.

The COVID-19 pandemic showed us what is possible in meeting the mental health needs of everyday Nigerians from the comfort of their homes. Recognising the systemic challenges Nigeria has (e.g. no mental healthcare at primary healthcare centres), our teletherapy services ensure that all Nigerians can access quality care irrespective of location.

Digital Community.

Our digital community, previously accelerated by Facebook and supported by Dovetail Foundation, seeks to provide deeper engagement for mental health enthusiasts and people living with mental health conditions. We provide accurate knowledge and information about mental health and create opportunities for engagement.

Rights-Based Advocacy.

Mental Health Law in Nigeria, Lunacy Act, Mental Health Bill

Capacity Building.

We are raising a generation of advocates that are rooted in human rights; empowering them with strategic advocacy skills and practical knowledge in international human rights treaties and convention to carry out meaningful participation in making systemic change in Nigeria’s mental health space.

Legislative & Policy Influence.

Together with our network of about 200 advocates across all 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria, we seek to take up seats at decision-making tables at national and state levels. We amplify and represent people with mental health conditions; our interests and wants in ensuring more inclusive legislation.

Research & Reporting.

Researching lived experiences of people with mental health conditions be it human rights abuses in state and otherwise owned facilities across Nigeria or thematic documentation that is relevant to making change or galvanising support, our research has informed global decision-making on mental health as well provided compelling evidence in legislative and policy influence.
