Young people are highly unlikely to seek help within their immediate circle of family and friends. Walking into psychiatric or general hospitals is also very unlikely due to fear and stigma. So where do you go to when you feel low? What started as a monthly support group, and still is, has grown into becoming Africa’s premier walk-in life clinic – a hospital for life issues working to improve the lives of young Nigerians by tackling some of their most complex issues.
Thanks to Airtel Nigeria through the Airtel Touching Lives CSR Initiative, this umbrella initiative – Safe Place Nigeria – is located in the heart of the commercial capital of Nigeria – Ikeja, Lagos. We’re on a mission to help young people address life issues early enough to prevent and reduce the occurrence of mental breakdowns.
